Douglas Reed, PMHNP-C, FNP-C
Douglas Reed, FNP-C, PMHNP-C is a double board certified family and psychiatric nurse practitioner with over 15 years of experience working in a variety of healthcare settings. His nursing career began in Washington D.C. in the ICU where he worked several years before transitioning in the community health setting work as a HIV nurse case manager. He then went on to earn his master’s degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner followed by several years practicing primary care to homeless individuals with severe mental illness. Realizing the strong relationship between mental illness and homelessness, Mr. Reed pursued additional training in psychiatry. Since his arrival in New York City in 2017, he has worked in several outpatient facilities providing psychiatric care across the lifespan. Most recently, he obtained additional training in addiction where he has obtained his DATA waiver to provide addiction treatment to individuals who are opioid dependent. Given the complexity of the healthcare system, Mr. Reed makes every effort to identify each client’s unique needs when discussing treatment options. His approach to patient care is guided by high ethical standards, evidence based practices, and compassion.
